Kent Wood - Class of 1957

BOUNTIFUL,UT - Our loving father, returned to Heavenly Father on July 28, 2014. Born to Russell and Alphia Wood on December 2, 1937 in Auburn, Wyoming. After losing his father at the age of ten, the family moved to Montpelier, Idaho where he graduated from Montpelier High. Married to Sondra Lee Burton on December 27, 1957, later solemnized in the Bountiful Utah Temple. Dad was a very good athlete, and an avid outdoorsman. He loved to camp, fish, hunt and spent many weekends traveling and exploring the western USA with his family and friends. He truly loved the Bear Lake valley and built a log cabin there so that he could always go back home. He was superintendent of the Safeway Ice Cream plant in SLC and later at Cream O'Weber in Ogden. Dad and mom owned and ran the café at Davis Park Golf Course for 40+ years where they always had a smile and a good conversation to all. He and his four brothers were well known for playing golf during all seasons and all weather. He served faithfully in many callings in the Bountiful 15th Ward.
 
He is survived by his brothers, Val and Sam; and sisters, Paula and Sherrell; his son, Kurt (Ellie); and daughter, Laura; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, daughter Cindy, his parents, brothers Delano and Gary, and one granddaughter.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Bountiful 15th Ward, 1250 South Main. Friends and family may visit, Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful or Monday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
