Theo Mumford (Holbrook) - Class of 1944

Theo Holbrook passed away peacefully at home in Orem, Utah on Sunday, May 1st, 2022. She was 96 years old. Theo was born in Montpelier, Idaho on February 3rd, 1926, to Lenora Butterworth and Byron Edward Mumford.  She was the last of four children and the only daughter.

Theo graduated with a degree in English from Brigham Young University. She married Max B Holbrook on November 19th, 1953, in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple.  The couple moved to Portland, Oregon to attend Dental School at Oregon Health Sciences University in 1956. They made their home in Portland and lived there for over 50 years. In 2007 Max and Theo moved to Orem, Utah to live with their daughter and son-in-law, Jolynn and Doug Perry, and their family.

Theo loved serving family and friends. She was an extraordinarily attentive wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She had a deep and abiding faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ, and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She enjoyed serving in many Church callings and also found great fulfillment in temple service.

Theo loved to sing, cook and read. She also loved to travel with her family and was always ready for the next adventure. Some of her favorite places to visit were the Oregon Coast, The Canadian Rockies, and Grand Teton National Park to name a few.

Theo is survived by her husband Max to whom she was married for 58 years and by two children: Jonathan Leigh (Julie) Holbrook, Jolynn (Doug) Perry, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Theo is now reunited with one grandchild, Logan Calvin Perry, and two great grandchildren, Jackson Elmo Matthews, and Macy Jewel Livingston, along with her parents and many other family members and dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-12:45 p.m., Saturday, May 14th. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Both events will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Steeplechase Building, 165 East 1780 North Orem, Utah 84057.

Many thanks to Nurse Laura Olsen from Active Hospice for her tender care and compassion.

Theo will be interred at the Finn Hill Cemetery in Brush Prairie, Washington on May 16th 2022. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice.
