Leona Sorensen was a dedicated wife and mother. To this day her greatest joy is to be surrounded by her children. She was always the first line of defense for her children's needs. She worked for many years as a nurse's assistant at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital. She particularly enjoyed working with infants and new born babies. Her husband, Paul Twiss, served in Italy in WWII and four of her sons served in the armed forces. Needless to say, she endured countless years of anxiety in their behalf. She filled her days with service and hard work. She was the only one of her siblings who graduated from Montpelier High. She adored Mr. Munk, her English Teacher, and speaks highly of him to this day. She had red hair and a disposition to go with it. Her son, Jim, says of his mother, she was "The little red head who said, "I can, I will," and he adds "she did!" A victim of dementia, she now resides in a care center in Pocatello, Idaho.
