LaJune Mourtsen (Guyon) - Class of 1926

Iola LaJune Mourtsen Guyon passed away the morning of December 6, 1999, one month short of her 92nd birthday, in Montpelier, Idaho.

"June" as she was commonly known, was born January 6, 1908 in Wardboro, Idaho, to Peter Christian Mourtsen and Martha Elizabeth Berry. In 1934, June married Wendell S. "Doc" Guyon, who preceded her in death. She is the mother of four children, Karen Clements, Edwin Guyon, Peter Guyon and Kathleen Mouritsen, all of Salt Lake City, UT. She leaves a rich legacy of service, support and love of her family which includes surviving brothers, Conrad (Pocatello, ID), Allen (Omaha, NE), sister, Wanda Lauridsen of Montpelier, ID, 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

First and foremost, June was vitally interested in the welfare of her family. She was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She worked in various church callings during her active life and was a talented musician who loved to share her musical abilities whenever the opportunity arose. Sewing was also a natural talent and she sewed for many local people and school groups. Even the debilitating effects of old age could not dim her bright outlook on life. Her wiry sense of humor and sparkling wit will be greatly missed by those who knew her well.

Funeral services were held in the Montpelier 4th Ward Chapel on December 10th. Burial will be in the Montpelier City Cemetery, with services under the direction of Matthews Mourtuary of Montpelier.
