Edith Dayton (Hanson) - Class of 1931

Edith Dayton Hanson, 86, passed on to a better life November 29, 1999, at the Rocky Mountain Care Center in Clearfield, Utah following a lingering illness.

Edith was born August 15, 1913, to George F. and Lillian Lewis Dayton in Dingle, Idaho. They later moved to Montpelier, Idaho where she spent most of her life. She married Clinton V. Hanson on December 9, 1933, and five children were born to their family.

Edith was a gentle and kind person and was a wonderful caregiver to her husband and family. She was a homebody and took great satisfaction in being a wife and a homemaker. She was a good cook and always had a hot meal prepared for her family. Edith was especially proud and delighted in her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who called her "Little Grandma". While we will miss her greatly, we know she is free of pain in a better place and with her loved ones who have passed on before her. She was a member of the LDS Church.

Edith is survived by two daughters, DeAnne Horsely of Farmington, UT and Vickie Woolett of Lander, WY; her sister, Helen Grunig of Montpelier; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, James, two daughters Lynne and Marlys, a grandson, Daniel, her parents, three brothers and one sister.

A graveside service was held December 2nd at the Montpelier City Cemetery under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier.
