(1974) My life, since leaving Montpelier High School in 1931, has been wonderful in every respect.

I attended Idaho State University from 1931 until 1933--graduating with a 2-yr college diploma and certification to teach in the elementary grades in Idaho. My two years in Pocatello were the greatest! During that time I met a young man from Soda Springs who had attended the university previously and having been involved in the music department was still coming to Pocatello weekly for piano lessons from Gaylord Sanford. I saw Paul Tipton occasionally during my last year but only as he was associated with students that I knew who were there from Soda Springs.

In the fall of '33 I began my career as a "School Marm" at Ivins, Idaho--a small farming community of perhaps 100 people. Being only 18 year old when I signed my contract, it was needless to say that the board was somewhat apprehensive as to my capabilities. Nevertheless they "took a chance" and hired me. I taught the first 4 years--had 23 pupils--a very wonderful principal--and earned $85 a month! I stayed at Ivins two years and in June of 1935 Paul and I were married.

We have lived our entire life in Soda Springs. Paul has been in banking--first with Largilliere Co. and since 1963 with Idaho First National, the largest bank in Idaho serving over 50 cities in the state.

We have two lovely daughters. Patricia Lynn was born in 1940 and Terre Jean in 1946. Patty married Kenneth C. Smith of Philadelphia. They have four children. The live in Denver, Colo. Ken is a digital computer programmer analyst. He is a project supervisor at Martin Marietta Co. Terre Married Dwight E. Lakey. The have two children. The live southeast of Soda Springs on a wheat and cattle ranch.

When Terre was 8 hears old there was an acute shortage of teachers in our city and I decided to return to the classroom. I also returned to college to complete my education. So for years I taught school winters and went to school summers.

In 1961 I received my Bachelor of Science Degree from Utah State University. My major was elementary education with minors in French and Social Science. In 1970 I completed my fifth year at Utah State majoring in Special Education and becoming fully certified as a Learning Disabilities Specialist in Utah and Idaho. For the past three years I have worked for our school district in this capacity--helping children who are perceptually impaired and as resource teacher for two elementary schools.

I haven't had much time for hobbies. I enjoy playing bridge--golf--bicycling. I tell Paul my real hobby is telephoning my daughters and talking to my grandchildren. I love being at our cabin on Bear Lake. Paul has his hobbies. He had a Hammond Electric Organ and plays beautifully--he has a wonderful library and is an avid reader. He is a "Rock Hound" and has converted our basement into a lapidary shop. He binds books and is extremely interested in photography.

We both enjoy very good health and are very busy. We love every minute of the time we are working and are together. We are thankful for each other and for our family.

It's a wonderful world--a wonderful time to be living. It's wonderful to see all of my classmates and teachers again!!
