Don George - Class of 1932

MONTPELIER, Idaho — Don Carlos George, 92, a man of integrity, passed away Nov. 17, 2006. in Kearney, Neb., at the home of his son Orrin.

He was born Feb. 8, 1914, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Parley and Areta Phelps George. After graduating from Montpelier High School, he served in the Conservation Corps.

Don married Audrey Ineck and had three children. They later divorced, and he then married Bertha Messerly, and they made their home in Soda Springs, Idaho.

During Don’s life he worked on the railroad as a carpenter, as an electrician rewinding motors, and also worked a dry farm in Border, Wyoming. He was an excellent handyman, and was always willing to help his neighbors and friends. He was held in the highest regard by everyone who knew him.

Don was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an avid hunter and fly fisherman. Don was a devoted and loyal father to his children.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife and seven brothers. He is survived by his children, Boyd (Ida) George of Chubbuck, Idaho, Orrin (Elizabeth) George of Kearney, Neb., and Judy (Brent) Boyle of St. George, Utah. He is also survived by grandchildrenand great-grandchildren who loved him dearly, He was known as “Grandpa” by all of the neighborhood children.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday. Nov. 21, 2006, at noon at Matthews Mortuary in Montpelier, Idaho. Interment will be in the Montpelier Cemetery.
