David Fredricks - Class of 1937

David M. Fredricks, 82, retired entrepreneur, a resident of Tacoma, WA since 1971, passed away in his sleep on Sunday, June 27, 1999 at the home of his niece, Darylann Fredricks of Spokane, WA. His death was due to a combination of heart failure and lung and bone cancer from which he had suffered for several months.

David was born Jan 6, 1917, at Montpelier, Idaho where he graduated from Montpelier High School. He was the son of Charles H. Fredricks and Louella M. Sorensen Fredricks.

David was engaged for most of his life in electronics, reparing radio and television sets since 1938. He has several inventions to his credit, in the area of home security devices, coin changers, and others. He served in the Army for two years during World War II.

David is well-remembered in Denver, CO, where he spent many years, as well as in Boise, ID where many of his relatives lived.

He was preceeded in death by his parents; six brothers, Chet, Henry, Tony, Shirly, Orvid; and sister, Phyllis Alkire; and his wife Viola, who died in Tacoma in 1973.

In addition to his niece, Darylann, he is survived by one brother, Ithel (Mike) Fredricks of Portland, OR. Though he had no children of his own, David is also survived by and fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and a close friend, Viola Christine (Chrissie) Smith of Tacoma. He is fondly remembered by Chrissie's family with whom he spent many happy hours.

A graveside service, arranged by Riplinger Funeral Home, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 1999, at Mountain View Cemetery, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. S.W. Tacoma, WA.
