Leland Kunz - Class of 1943

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Leland Don Kunz, 74, passed away Saturday evening, March 25, 2000, at Montpelier, Idaho, from complications from diabetes. Leland was born August 18, 1925, in Bern, Idaho, the second of six sons born to Heber Christian and Marie Clark Kunz. He married Renee Wood September 21, 1948, in the Manti, Utah LDS T emple

Leland was reared in Bern, and attended schools in Bern and Montpelier. He was a well-known successful farmer and cattle rancher in the Bear Lake valley, and made his home in Bern. From 1946-1948, he served an LDS mission to the North Central States- Montana, Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. He was an active member of the Church of Latter-day Saints, where he served many church positions including scout master, stake missionary, counselor in the bishopic, Bern ward bishop, and stake patriarch. His life was his family and his church.

He is survived by his wife, Renee, of Bern; his children, Norma (Bob)Lambert, Sandy, UT, MerLee (Horward) McCort, Rock Springs, WY, Eloise (Gerald)Miller, Farmington, UT, Edward Wood (Bernadette) Kunz, Bern, ID, Jane (Ross) Smith, Layton, UT, John Harold (Sonya) Kunz, Grace, ID; and 25 grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Lyman, Dingle, ID, Thiel, West Valley, Utah, and John, Bountiful, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2-year-old son Ashby Leland Kunz and two brothers, McKay and Charles.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 30, 2000 at the Bern Ward Chapel. Interment took place in the Bern Cemetery.
