Doris Widmer (Irving) - Class of 1946

SODA SPRINGS - Doris Widmer Irving, 83, of Soda Springs, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012, in San Tan Valley, Arizona. Doris was born August 26, 1928, in Geneva, Idaho, the daughter of George L. and Margaret W. Widmer.

She was raised and educated in Geneva, Idaho. After she graduated from high school she moved to Montpelier, Idaho, for a few years until 1950 when she moved to Soda Springs, Idaho.

Doris married Glenn Irving on April 28, 1948, in Pocatello, Idaho. Glenn passed away February 16, 1990.
She worked for Lowe Drug Store in Montpelier and Soda Springs and was elected County Treasurer and Tax Collector in November of 1962 and retired in 1991.

She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women, BPW; she was also very active in volunteer services in the community.
Doris loved her horses, bowling and getting her family together for reunions.

She is survived by two brothers, Grant Widmer of Gresham, Ore.; Gene Widmer of Tucson, Ariz.; and two sisters, Fawn Phelps of Moreno Valley, Calif.; Beth Spencer of Northridge, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; her son, Larry G. Irving; her daughter, Helene Irving; and a brother Ray L. Widmer and a sister Ruth Bunn.

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Noon at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs.

Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
