Donna Weaver (Prescott) - Class of 1947

Idaho State Journal, 08/17/06

POCATELLO Donna Fern Weaver Prescott, 77, of Pocatello, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 16, 2006. She was born on November 20, 1928, in Dingle, Idaho, to William Jasper and Ada Bird Weaver. She grew up and attended schools in Dingle, and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1947.

Donna married Cyril Joseph Prescott on September 4, 1947, in the Idaho Falls Temple. She and Cyril lived in Montpelier, Ashton, Conda and Twin Falls, and settled down in Pocatello in 1956.

She was a homemaker and baby-sat children until her youngest child was in school. She went to work at the Holiday Inn and then on to Highland High School in the cafeteria, where she made many special friends. She was easygoing, had a great sense of humor and was a loyal friend.

Donna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, and held various positions throughout the years. Her favorite position was music chorister for the Primary. The children looked forward to seeing what she had planned and made for that week. She was a dedicated Relief Society visiting teacher and loved each member she visited. She had a very strong testimony of the gospel.

Donna was a wonderful cook. She always had a snack for her children when they came home from school. She enjoyed singing with her sisters, camping, fishing, going huckleberry picking with Cyril, canning in the fall and family get-togethers.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She was often found with the children sitting around her singing while she played the guitar or piano. Oftentimes she would make homemade play dough for her children and grandchildren.

Donna's unconditional love will always remain in her children's hearts forever. Father in Heaven couldn't have picked a more perfect mother and wife. Cyril and Donna's love has lasted for more than 59 years, and will last for all eternity.

She is survived by her husband, Cyril Joseph Prescott of Pocatello; her children, Carol Dawn (Allen) Moser of Blackfoot, Bruce (Starla) Prescott of Pocatello, and Lucille (Don) Ker of St. Anthony; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Verda Ida Frost of Nampa. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and her daughter, Glenna Rae Klein.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006, at Colonial Funeral Chapel, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., Pocatello. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery following the services.
