He was a member of the City Creek LDS Ward in the Richmond Utah Stake. He served in many church positions, including Young Men's president, stake Sunday school president and on the high council. His favorite calling was serving as a faithful home teacher.

His favorite hobby was his good horses. How he loved to ride in the mountains and made countless pack trips to the Wind River Mountains with brothers and friends. He judged many horse shows and queen contests. In his later years he built and sold bobsleighs. He was a member of the Lions Club and a committee member of the Richmond Black and White Days.
