In Memory

Jim Simmons - Class of 1961

CENTERVILLE-- Sometimes a person comes along that makes a difference in the life of everyone he comes in contact with. James E Simmons was just that man. He passed away January 29, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jim was born October 16, 1942, in Montpelier, Idaho to George and Edith Simmons.

Jim is survived by his wife, Vickie Simmons who stood by his side in everything he did, and will miss him with all her heart; his parents, George and Edith Simmons; and his sister, Mary Lou Burgoyne (Charles Burgoyne). He will be missed by his five children: Jackie (Tim Heier), Lisa (Ted Alexander), David (Carrissa Harrow), Cobie Simmons and Jeff (Lisa Harrow). Nine grandchildren will also miss their favorite grandpa who always had time for a story, a new project to work on in his shop or just a lap for sitting on with him in his favorite chair. Many nieces and nephews will miss him along with a very special fishing buddy, Tyler Allen.

Jim was the owner of Jim's Chop Shop, where he cut many of Davis County residents' hair for 32 years, where the jokes were aplenty, the company was first choice and the flat tops were some of the best in the county.

Jim knew so many people. We all miss the jokes he always told. The fishing stories that could go on forever and most of all his unique way of making you feel like you were his best friend.

The family would like to thank everyone who has offered their support, love, friendship and kindness. We would also like to offer a special thank you to an angel who came into our lives and helped us laugh when life was not what we expected, Dr. Regina Klein. We would also like to thank the many nurses, doctors, and aides at Lakeview Hospital who helped us along the way. All our thanks and deepest appreciation for all of your compassion and support.

P.S. Thank you Grandpa for showing us all how to live each day to the fullest. We will always have you in our pocket. We know you will be catching the big ones now!

Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 2, 1999, 11 a.m. at the Centerville Deuel Creek Ward, 950 N. Main.
