Bruce Hymas - Class of 1961

Bruce K. Hymas Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend Bruce K Hymas, age 60, passed away
October 25, 2003 after a courageous and valiant battle with carcinoid cancer.Born May 20, 1943 in
Montpelier, ID to Hubert Hymas and Margaret (Gilgan) Hymas, Ethel (Kunz) Hymas (Stepmother). Married
his eternal partner, Colleen Milliner Feb 26, 1965 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Bruce served in the Army
Reserve during the Vietnam War retrieving fallen sol-diers and bringing them home to their families. He
attended the University of Utah were he received a degree in accounting and became a CPA (Certified
Public Accountant). Bruce's knowledge and intelligence in this field led him to work for West Jordan City,
Midvale City and Utah County where he built and implemented software systems that increased the overall
function of the entire city government. As the Chief Finance Officer at Utah County he was finishing a new
software program which he was very proud of and is being highly praised by those using the technology.
Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as the first and second counselor in
the bishopric and in various other callings in the ward and stake. He loved anything to do with computers
and power tools. He loved and enjoyed his family and grandchildren, especially taking the wave runners out
on the lake and spending time camping. Bruce led his life with integrity and honor and never went against
the values and beliefs he knew were right. Bruce is survived by his wife, Colleen; daughters, Lisa Repp,
Sandy, UT, Juliet Scalise (James), Layton, UT, Collette Conover (Michael), Magna, UT; grandchildren,
Trevor, Heather, Riley, Casey, Jarron; brothers, Steve Hymas (Susan), Larry Kunz (Tes); nieces and
nephews. Funeral was Oct 29, 2003 at the Sandy Fairoaks Ward Chapel, 586 E. 8400 S, Sandy, UT.
Interment, Sandy City Cemetery. The family expresses sincere thanks to all the nurses and staff of the IHC Hospice group for the loving care of our husband and father. We would like to thank the Sandy Fairoaks Ward and those friends who have been so kind and generous.
