Roger Messerly - Class of 1956

Roger Dean Messerly, 64, passed away of natural causes Friday, April 19, 2002, at his home. He was born November 14, 1937, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Edwin Robert and Ruth Bernice Nelson Messerly. He was the second of three sons. He attended school in Montpelier, Idaho, graduating from Montpelier High School.

He was a lifetime resident of Montpelier, and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday
Saints. Roger was a horse man at heart, and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Cutter Association,
and won many trophies racing his champion American quarter horses. He was very much involved with his
nieces’ and nephews’ lives in 4-H, school activities, birthdays, holidays, and he was often known to slip a $1
bill into their pockets.

Roger is survived by two brothers, Robert Edwin and Virginia Messerly of Green River, Wyoming, Grant N.
and Jane Messerly of Liberty, Idaho; six nieces, four nephews, three great-nieces and four great-nephews
who will greatly miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held April 25, 2002 at the Montpelier Sixth Ward Chapel, at 585 N. Eighth St. Burial was in the Montpelier Cemetery, with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary.
