Farrell Leo Nate, 85, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 at Bear Lake Memorial Skilled Nursing Facility of natural causes. Farrell was born Feb. 4, 1928 in Dingle, Idaho, the third of four children to Mildred Hannah Dayton and Leo Sampson Nate. He married his eternal companion, Margean Wallentine, on Oct. 22, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple. They shared 66 devoted years together.

He grew up in Dingle and attended schools in Dingle and Montpelier. He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad for 39 years as a conductor. He was an avid sportsman and loved hunting, fishing, trapping, boating, snowmobiling, camping, and anything outdoors. He also had a great love for softball and was always first pick for the team. He was the life of every party and all who knew him enjoyed having him around.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had many callings in the church such as home teacher, serving in the Young Men's presidency, High Priests Quorum, and a temple ordinance worker.

He loved his family very much and enjoyed it when they visited. He is survived by his sweetheart, Margean of Georgetown; children Shauna (Mike) Arnell of Nampa, Idaho, Kevin (Marty) Nate of Georgetown and Kim Nate of Paris; nine grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Lynn, sisters Verleen Sparks and Nea Gardner.

Services were provided by Matthews Mortuary in the Georgetown LDS Church on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013. Burial was in the Georgetown Cemetery.
