Russell returned home to Heavenly Father on June 20, 2015 at the age of 70 years old. Russell was born to Vernal and Hazel Peterson in Montpelier, Idaho on June 17, 1945. He married the love of his life, Janet Kaye Stucki, March 19, 1970 in the St. George Temple. They raised their four children in Montpelier, ID. Russell loved his family. He loved spending time at his cabin on Bear Lake, four-wheeling, walking and just enjoyed the sunny weather. He was happiest when surrounded by friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife Janet, his parents Hazel and Vernal, and three brothers Jerry, Steven and Jeff. Russel was always everyone's friend.  He was always happy and his happiness was contagious.  He had a positive outlook on life.  I totally enjoyed him and his grandaughter at the 50th reunion.  Even with all he had been through, he seemed like the same happy Russell.  He was a friend that I will miss.  Thanks for your friendship Russell!

Does anyone remember those blue suede shoes Russell used to wear.  He threw them away one time and Sheryl or Odetta and I got them out of their trash and insisted he keep wearing them.........which he reluctantly did.  He was our Montpelier Elvis!  He was a few months older than some of us girls and always seemed to have access to a car.  He was our taxi and we went through a lot of $.25 a gallon gas dragging main.

Christin, Ann, Joyce, Donna and I were privileged to hear the wonderful tribute his sister, children and grandchildren paid to Russell at the funeral.  He leaves behind so many funny and touching memories for his family and friends.

Russell and I were friends way back in the day.  He was fun to be with and easy to talk to.  I hadn't seen him for years, then a few years ago we were passing through Montpelier and ran into him at church.  We had such a good visit.  He was still the same friendly, good guy.  My condolences to his family.

News of Russell's passing filled me with great sadness.  I was so glad that I had had a great visit with him during our reunion last summer.  I have so many great memories of him.

in the eighth grade he had his license before many of us did and we had a ball dragging the main with him chauffeuring us all around.  I cannot even picture his face without a big smile. He was totally a cheerful person to be around. We kidded and carried on every day.  I loved being around him.   He had many family members to greet him when he arrived on the other side and I'm sure it was a joyous reunion.  I will truly miss him. His memory will make me try harder to be happy and spread sunshine all the time.

Russell did indeed share his million-dollar smile and infectuous happiness in a most natural way with everyone. So grateful for last year's reunion and a time to enjoy again this great gift of his. Though late in learning of his death, I am saddened and join in offering my condolences to his family.
