Lorna Solum (Fannin) - Class of 1964

Lorna Rae Solum Fannin, 77, was born October 5, 1946, in Montpelier, Idaho to Ruby June Johnson and John Russel Solum. She passed away peacefully on October 10, 2023, at the Riverton Hospital.

Lorna was raised in Georgetown, Idaho, and attended Montpelier High School where she graduated in 1964. After graduation, she attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City where she met the love of her life, Gary Fannin. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah Temple on July 23, 1965. Gary and Lorna ultimately settled into their home in West Jordan, Utah, where they have lived for the last 49 years. Together they raised their two daughters, Gerri, and Kelli.

Lorna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a very strong testimony in her Savior, Jesus Christ. She served faithfully in many callings, including Stake and Ward Relief Society leadership positions as well as many other church callings.

Lorna enjoyed camping with family and friends, playing games with her family, and attending her children's and grandchildren’s many activities. She enjoyed taking trips with her family and neighbors, her favorites being Hawaii, Alaska, New England, and Canyonlands.

Lorna is survived by her husband Gary; children: Gerri (Scott) Harper, and Kelli Fannin; grandchildren: Sterling (Natalie) Harper, Morgan (Michael) Hanson, Jordan (Jahnin) Harper, Taylor (Mekayla) Harper, Talen Gunderson, Gage Bishop, Natasha Bishop, Hunter Bishop; great-grandchildren: Maci Hanson, Nixon Hanson, and Oakley Harper; brothers: Blaine Solum and Brad (Janet) Solum. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Shelley Solum Purrington.

A viewing will be held at the Valley View Memorial Park (4335 W. 4100 S. West Valley City, Utah), on Monday, October 16, 2023, from 11 am to 12 pm. A graveside service will immediately follow. A luncheon for family will be provided following the service at the LDS ward building (2700 W. 7000 S., West Jordan).
