In Memory

Cont Jones - Class of 1958

Constant L. Jones was born on August 5, 1940, to Delbert and Vola Jones in Montpelier, Idaho.

His laughter and big presence filled his childhood home with joy. Cont was an impressive student and an enthusiastic athlete. These attributes would serve him throughout his life.

CJ loved serving in the Eastern Atlantic States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. His fervor and testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was a foundational keystone and legacy that he cherished and invited others to follow.

He attended Brigham Young University and continued to develop a deep love of learning. Cont had a charisma about him that was felt by many. He graduated with his bachelor's and master's Degrees from BYU.

Cont and Boni Jones crossed paths at Brigham Young University and were married on May 26, 1965. Together they had 7 children. Cont had a deep love for his family and lived by the expression, "work hard, play hard," an attribute he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Along with his playful nature, CJ Jones was a fierce protector and provider for his family. He took pride in the development of his construction company, J2 Homes, working alongside his brother, at one time, and his son, at another.

In the later years of his life, CJ served two missions with his sweetheart in Charleston, West Virginia and Laie, Hawaii. He created community wherever he went with his infectious smile, laughter, and curiosity.

CJ Jones passed away with a deep faith in Jesus Christ and a resounding belief in the eternity of family through covenant. He graduated from this life on November 25, 2023. He is survived by his brother, Lynn Jones (Catherine), sister-in-law, Sandra Jones, sisters, Gayle Murdock, and Odetta Wilcox (Layne), loving wife, Boni L. Jones, and their 7 children: Scot (Amy McEwan), Lisa (Mike Sumner), Jani (Doyle Obray), Karen (John Olsen), Dianna (Justin Johnston), Natalie (Gary Sanderson), and James (Angela Swenson), 36 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
