In Memory

Jed Crane - Class of 1969

Jed James Crane, 71, of Pocatello returned to his Heavenly Father June 7, 2023.

Jed was born July 15, 1951, in Montpelier, Idaho.

Jed married the love of his life and eternal partner Marcia Jean Kunz on April 3, 1972. He and Marcia spent the majority of their life together living in Bern, Idaho where they raised their family, farmed, and raced horses. Jed won many chariot racing trophies with his best friend Roscoe Caldwell.

They were later sealed in the Logan, Utah temple August 13,1994. He loved his wife and family more than anything else, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After Jed retired from Monsanto, he did what he loved. He and Marcia went to Hawaii, on cruises, and traveled. He spent his last years living the life he’d always dreamed of living. He spent the winters in Arizona helping run a roping arena where he fed 30 head of horses and 200 head of roping steers. He traveled to Texas and Oklahoma for rodeos and met amazing people along the way. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Thanks to all his PARDS for loving him as much as we do. Bring your horses and saddle up if you want to ride alongside him for his last ride from the church to the cemetery. Bring your branding iron (iron or electric) to the cemetery for one last tribute to a great man.

He is survived by the love of his life Marcia, his children, Angela Purrington (Bryce), Wendell Crane (Samantha), Amanda Bunn (Quinton), Weston Crane (Mandee), Russell Crane, and Rachelle Bartschi (Kris), 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and his horse Wiley.

A viewing will be held on June 13th at Schwab Matthews Mortuary from 6-8 pm

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on June 14th at the Bern LDS church, with a viewing prior to the services from 11 - 11:45 am

Interment will be at the Bern Cemetery.
