In Memory

Dean Burgoyne - Class of 1973

Dean William Burgoyne, 63, passed away on November 5, 2018, in his sleep at home in Yuma, Arizona. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 12, 1955 to Harold and LaDell Burgoyne. Dean was the second of their four children, and he also had an older half sister and brother. Dean lived in Bountiful until he was six years old, when his family moved to Montpelier, Idaho. He graduated from Bear Lake High School in 1973 and earned a scholarship to Idaho State University. He chose the Auto-Body repair program and graduated in 1974.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Trudy Kay Wuthrich on October 12, 1974. She was the love of his life, and he gave his all to her and their four children. Dean and Trudy owned and operated D&T Auto Body from 1974 until 1988, when Dean sold the business to his younger brother, Bruce.

Dean always had a yearning to go north to Alaska, and the opportunity came work at Prudhoe Bay for Peak Oil Field Service Company. He worked for them for 30 years and was an excellent employee. He moved from the Ford Paint Shop up to the Mechanic Shop, and then became superintendent of the Light Duty Ford Shop. His employees were his second family, along with many others; throughout his years working on the slope. Dean loved camping and fishing with his family on the Kasilof River in Alaska. He loved all of Alaska and its many wonders. In 2016 he decided to take early retirement and buy a recreational vehicle, so he, Trudy and Trevor could travel and visit his children and beloved grandchildren in the lower 48. Many great adventures followed, and wonderful memories were made.

Dean gave his life to Jesus as a born-again Christian in 2017. He enjoyed being a certified chaperone with the Special Olympics.

Dean is survived by his wife, Trudy of Yuma; daughter, Kathryn (Shad) Helm of Lewiston, Idaho; Son, Robert (Rheannon) of Liberty Lake, Washington; Kara (Parker) Weech of Rexburg, Idaho; Trevor of Yuma, Arizona; and seven grandchildren whom he adored. Dean is also survived by his brother, Bruce (Debbie) of Montpelier, Idaho, and sister, Bonnie (Wyatt) Wilcox of Santaquin, UT. A celebration of his life will be held in Montpelier, Idaho at a later date.
