Kay Bartschi - Class of 1952

Catherine (Kay) Bartschi Fleming, 88, of Shelley, Idaho, and former resident of Rupert, Idaho, passed away at EIRMC hospital in Idaho Falls on March 17,2023, with family by her side. Kay was born in Montpelier, Idaho, and was raised on the family ranch in Nounan, Idaho. She attended elementary school in Nounan and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1952. She then graduated with her Registered Nurses Degree from Idaho State University and met her sweetheart Patrick Kenneth Fleming while there. They were married in Idaho Falls on February 9, 1956, and were blessed with three sons, Michael, Timothy, Kevin, and one daughter, Christine.

Throughout their early married life, they lived in several places, and eventually settled in Rupert, Idaho, where they lived for 45 years. Pat and Kay later moved to Jerome, ID, and then Shelley, ID, but Rupert is their home.

Kay had a deep, abiding love for her Heavenly Father, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and her family. Nothing made her more happy than being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and great great granddaughter. She also enjoyed spending time with her extended family. When at home, Kay enjoyed doing word searches, sticker puzzles, reading, watching some TV, chatting with Pat, going for drives, and chocolate marshmallow milkshakes.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in several callings, but several times in the area of compassionate service.

Kay is survived by her husband, four children, eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Rupert MAR Cemetery, (450 N Meridian Road). A celebration of her life will be held from 3:30 - 5:00pm at the home of Mike and Jill Fleming, 220 E 100 S, Rupert.
