Orie A. Shreve - Class of 1976

Orie Alfred Shreve was born May 17, 1958 to Henry and Venla Shreve in Montpelier, Bear Lake County, Idaho. He started first grade at AJ Winters and graduated from Bear Lake High School in Montpelier. Orie was ten years old when he went to the county fair, stopped at Toss A Coin booth and won a living baby duck by getting his coin in a dish. He named his duck Clackers. Orie and Clackers were the best of friends. Clackers would follow Orie everywhere. Orie grabbed a handful of bread crumbs and Clackers would follow him even to town.

After high school he joined the army station at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. From Fort Leonardwood he was sent to Washington DC where he was present for the inauguration of Jimmy Carter. After his service from the Army, he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah for a short time. In 1984 he moved to Boise, Idaho and got a job at Boise State University and worked there for 25 years until the time of his death.

He is preceeded in death by his parents, his brother Gerald, his brother Ralph, his sister Janice, and a brother Henry. He is survived by a sister Louise Mencer (Ed) of Eagle, Idaho, a sister Sherry Lloyd of Boise, Idaho, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St., Boise. Family will greet friends from 10:00-10:55 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow at a later date at Montpelier Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel.
