Rulon Shepherd - Class of 1919

Services were held March 15, at the Meldrum Mortuary in Mesa, Arizona, for Rulon Tracy Shepherd, who died March 11, 1976 in Mesa. He was born December 7, 1900 in Paris,Idaho, the son of Henry Robert and Sophia Dorothea Poulsen Shepherd. He was a member of the Montpelier High School class of 1919, however he did not graduate. He married Genevieve Cooley August 31, 1922 in Salt Lake City. He attended Ricks College in Rexburg and was a graduate of Brigham Young University. He earned his master's degree at the University of Southern California. He was a superintendent of Mesa schools and became superintendent of the combined school system in Mesa in 1953. He and his wife, Genevieve, lived in Hawaii for two years where they completed a mission for the LDS Church. He was very active in church and civic activities in Mesa. Shepherd is survived by his wife and four children, Kenneth, Mrs. Maurice (Arlene) Bateman, Douglas and David, and a large number of grandchildren. Interment was in the City of Mesa Cemetery.
