Cory Tippets - Class of 1975

Cory James Tippets, was born July 25, 1956 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Ross and Delsa Thurber Tippets of Bennington. He graduated from Bear Lake High School in 1975. He drowned Monday, June 30, 1975 in the Bennington Reservoir, northeast of the community. Tippets was swimming with Rhett Phelps, Richard Crane and Keith Thompson when the accident occurred. Tippets was swimming toward a raft moored about 100 yards from the shore when he was apparently overcome by cramps, the police report said. Phelps said when he reached Tippets, he was unable to do much for him. Services were held Saturday, July 5 in the Bennington LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop William A. Jensen conducting. Interment followed in the Georgetown Cemetery. Musical selections in the service were presented by Dennis Burdick, accompanied by Gay Burdick, Ann Hunter, Ann Crane and Rhea Westlake, accompanied by Ruth Ann Jenson, and Wayne Swensen. Prayers were offered in the service by Loyd Thurber, Albert K. Thurber and David Widmer, with dedication of the grave by Lyle J. Nielson.
