In Memory

Kathryne Stephens (Muir) - Class of 1953

Our beloved mother and grandmother Kathryne Muir peacefully returned home to her Heavenly Father on October 17, 2018 from natural causes. Kathy was born on January 2, 1935 in Montpelier, Idaho to Owen & Winnie Stephens. She grew up in Montpelier where she was the third daughter of four girls. She met her husband, Elmo Muir in 1951 at a church dance. They were later married in Kathy’s parents' home in Montpelier in 1953. Kathy was delighted when she was able to enter the temple of the Lord with her sweet husband and be sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1987. During her lifetime, her family has grown from her 4 children to 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, all of whom have their pictures prominently displayed throughout her home for all to admire as much as she did.

Kathy was a genuinely loving, and devoted woman of faith. She was always the first one to show love and compassion to all and gave the best hugs ever. Kathy also had a great talent for and love of music all her life where recently, she sang with Silver Chord’s and Sunshine Sisters in Pocatello.

Kathy held strong to her testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ her entire life, serving faithfully in many church callings and two missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with her husband Elmo.

She passed away on October 17, 2018 and was preceded in death by her parents, Owen & Winnie Stephens; daughter, Annie Muir Plain; son, Michael Muir; sister, Gladys Schaffer. She is survived by her husband, Elmo Muir; daughter, Susan Newell; daughter, Lisa Bybee (Dirk); sister, Maxine Chapman; sister, Maurine Austin; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
