In Memory

Calvin Teuscher - Class of 1942

A longtime Oregon City resident, Calvin Warren Teuscher, stepped into eternity Jan. 24, 2016. Cal was born Aug. 7, 1923, the last of eight children born to Robert and Rosetta Messerli Teuscher in Wabuska, Nev. He grew up as a farm boy in Geneva, Idaho, and was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the China-Burma-India Theater. After an honorable discharge, Cal found his niche as a successful merchant and, alongside the love of his life and wife of nearly 70 years, Juley De DeEtte Dunn Teuscher, operated Teuschers Variety and Toy Store in Oregon City, 88 cent stores in Oregon City, Canby and in the Portland area, and Western wear stores in Molalla and Woodburn. Cal loved fly fishing, bowling, traveling in their motor home and showing his prized champion Arabian stallion, Beau Raffon. He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell or a prank to pull. He was a rascal! In addition to his wife, De, Cal leaves behind his daughters, Susan Teuscher Trammell of Liberty Hill, Texas, and Leslie Teuscher Marks of Beavercreek. Cal was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; and grandchildren, Dee Ann Yarborough and Ryan Jerome Marks. Cherishing his memory in addition to Susan and Leslie are Leslies husband, Jerry Marks; children, Warren Marks, McKenzi Warnock and Lacie Lane; their husbands and children; Susans children, Travis Yarborough and Jo Lee Landry; their spouses and children; and many, many Teuscher generations scattered throughout the Americas and the world.
