Justus Stevens - Class of 1916

Justus Magnus Stevens, age 94, passed away March 21, 1991.

He was the son of Justus Perry and Juliett Bohne Stevens. He was born September 6, 1896 in Fairview, Utah; the eldest of nine children; all of them deceased. He received his early education in Fairview, then Kemerer, Wyoming and Montpelier, Idaho; in Montpelier High School he was a star basketball player. After high school he entered the Army and served guard duty on the Mexican boarder. He also served in World War I from 1915-1919 in the combat artillery unit in Europe. Received his bachelor's and master degrees from U.S.U. and did post graduate at the University of Utah and University of California. He was a teacher for many years at Utah State University and high schools in Tooele, Riverton and Murray. He was a member and High Priest in the LDS Church, Murray 25th Ward. Served a full time mission in the Cottonwood Stake in 1938 and has a long record of serving in various church positions. Was a past president of the Utah Audubon Society. He participated in various activities in the field of biology. He married Hazel Jeppesen, October 25, 1923; she preceded him in death on July 8, 1989.Funeral services will be held Monday, March 25, 1991 at 1 p.m. in the Murray 25th Ward, 363 East Vine Street. Friends may call at Jenkins Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State, on Sunday from 7-8 p.m. and Monday at the church one half hour prior to services. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
