In Memory

Niles Monson - Class of 1948

Niles Thomas Monson, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 6, 2008, at his home of natural causes.

He was born February 1, 1930, in Ogden, Utah to Orlando Edmund (Mac) Monson and Audrey Thomas. He married June Humpherys August 25, 1949, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was employed by the M.H. King Company and had the opportunity to manage several stores in Burley, Boise, Shelley, Preston, and Rexburg. He also enjoyed several years of working with the great people at the Ricks College Bookstore. He loved his job and the great people of Rexburg. He and June moved to Idaho Falls in 2001 and have so loved their association with their ward family there.

He was the proud father of four daughters and the proud grandfather of 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Everyone looked forward to summer with Grandpa at the cabin in Island Park.

He was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in several callings. He found great joy in his years of retirement serving as a Temple worker in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Survivors include his wife, June Monson of Idaho Falls, and his children, Judy (Dan) Peterson of Fruita, CO, Peggy (Robert) Beck of San Antonio, TX, Laurie (Jay) Phillips of Idaho Falls, ID, Lisa (Alan) Siddoway of Teton, ID, and his sister Nikki (Dennis) Estrada of Providence, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents.
