John Wells - Class of 1937

John.Alfred Wells, 61, died Tuesday, Jan 11, 1977, in Boise where he was on a cattle buying trip. He was born April 5, 1915 in Fairview, Wyo. to Alfred Jones Wells and Mary Mullen Wells. He attended schools in Montpelier and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1937. He married Edith Emily Hunzeker December 3. 1941 in Montpelier and this marriage was then solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple October 20, 1942. He rode for the Caribou Cattle Association and was a policeman for the Montpelier Police Force for 20 years. He was a dairyman, rancher, and cattle buyer at the time of his death. He loved horses and trained riding horses, roping and working horses, and draft and pulling horses. He worked with 4-H horse clubs He was an avid rodeo fan and participated in many rodeos. He was an Elder in the Montpelier First Ward of the LDS Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Roger L. (Judy) Kunz, Pocatello, Donna Wells, J. Robert Wells, Fred H. Wells, and Lynn A Wells, all Montpelier; and also one foster son, Myron "Corkey" Wilson, Heyburn, Ida. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, his step-mother, Mabel Kunz, and his sister, Mrs. Glenn (Marian) Owens. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan 14, in the Montpelier Stake Center with Bishop Dean Wigington conducting. Interment was in the Montpelier Cemetery.
