Charles Severn - Class of 1928

Charles Allen Severn, a Montpelier native and prominent citizen of Boise for about 24 years, died January 3, 1966 in a Boise hospital. A son of Harry Allen and the late Mary (Mae) Thetis Hoff Severn, he was born on September 3, 1910. A student leader. Mr. Severn was a member of the MHS basketball squads of 1927 and 1928. After graduation in 1928 he confirmed his education at the present Idaho State University, where he also lettered in basketball. He took a bachelor of science degree in business at the University of Idaho. He was employed by C. C. Anderson's in Boise from 1935 to 1939, when he joined Burroughs Corporation In Salt Lake City. He moved to Pocatello in 1941, and since 1942 had lived in Boise. He became branch manager at Burroughs in 1947 and held that position until his death. He married Katherine C. Clyburn June 4, 1938 in Soda Springs. He was a member of Capital City Lodge No 93 AF&AM, York Rite Bodies, El Korah Temple, Boise Elks Lodge No 310, Boise Rotary Club and Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Donna Sullivan, Washington, D. C.; two sons, David Severn, sophomore at the University of Idaho, and Charles Severn of Boise; his father of Pocatello; two brothers, Frank Severn of Idaho Falls and Russell Severn of Nampa. Services were conducted January 5 in Summer chapel with the Rev. I. Q. Wood officiating.
