Vance Lawson Hancock, 53, died Sunday, February 7, 1960 in the living quarters of Sid's Shoe Shop which he had been operating since May.  The son of John Anthony and Deseret Lawson Hancock, a pioneer family, he was born in Montpelier January 16, 1907.  He never married.  A life long resident of Montpelier he graduated from Montpelier High School with the class of 1926 and later took business college training.  He was employed by the city for a number of years.  He was a member of the LDS Church.  Services were held on Wednesday in the Matthews Mortuary Chapel.  Interment was in the Montpelier Cemetery.
