Grant Miller - Class of 1933

Grant S. Miller died Saturday, January, 2002 in a Helena nursing home after a long illness; he was surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec. 2, 1913, to John and Mary in Tygee, Idaho, one of 11 children.

Grant was schooled in Wyoming and graduated from Montpelier High School in Idaho. He drove truck for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Yellowstone National Park. He married Marcella Warden on Aug. 3, 1935; she died June 27, 1977. They moved to Bozeman, where Grant worked for Nash Finch Co. In 1942, they moved to Livingston, where he was a brakeman and conductor for the Northern Pacific Railway; he retired May 15, 1977.

On Nov. 6, 1977, Grant married Mary Devivier; they lived in York.

His wife Marcella and all but one sibling preceded Grant in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughters, Gail (Don) Johnson, Deer Lodge, Claudia Swanson, Livingston; son, Richard Miller, Columbia, Maine; brother, Gordon Miller, Ogden, Utah; step-son, Dick Devivier, Billings; step daughter, JoAnn Longmire, Helena; granddaughters, Cindy Fisher, Linda Karell; grandson, Denis Brandon; step-granddaughters, Jackie Smith, Kim Sides, Tracy Devivier; step-grandson, Mike Heller; eight greatgrandchildren; one greatgreat-grandson, Dalton Marsh; nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. At Grant's request, no service is planned.
