Mabel Orchard was born August 25, 1899 in Montpelier the daughter of Joseph Hyrum and Katherine Young Orchard.  She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1918.  She married George Sherman Murphy Sr.  She died July 7, 1989 in Whittier, California and was buried in the Mountain View Memorial Park in Barstow, California.
