Arthur Wayne Burke was born July 28, 1909 in Montpelier, the son of Arthur Melbourne and Gertrude Elizabeth Pugmire Burke. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1928. He married Phyllis Kunz February 11, 1932, in Montpelier. He died February 14, 1999 in Denver, Colorado. He was buried in Pocatello, Idaho.
