Dean Aland - Class of 1937

Dean Holmes Aland was born August 13, 1920 the son of Levi William and Iva Ruth Montee.  He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1937.  He married Maida Genevieve Sorenson.  He died July 18, 1973 and was buried in the Montpelier Cemetery.

Dean Holmes Aland. 52, died Suddenly of a heart attack early Wednesday morning July 18, 1973 at his home at 228 South 8th Street. He was a locomotive engineer working on locals of Union Pacific Railroad out of Montpelier. A son of the late Levi Wiliam Aland and Iva Ruth Montee Aland, he was born August 13, 1920 at Pegram. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1937 and attended Idaho State University at Pocatello. Mr. Aland began employment on the railroad as a fireman in 1941, and later was promoted to engineer. He was an elder in the LDS Church and a member of B. of L. E. Lodge No 324. His marriage to Maida Genevieve Sorenson was on March 24, 1942 at Randolph and the ceremony solemnized June 4. 1964 in the LDS temple at Salt Lake City. Besides his widow and mother of Montpelier, he is survived by five daughters, Mrs Sheldon (Nadean) Price of Montpelier, Mrs. Monte Jean Rowett of Sacramento, California, Linda Lou Aland of Provo, Mrs. Darlo (Gwendolyn) Linford of Almagordo, New Mexico. and Sharlene Aland, a senior at BYU in Provo; six grandchildren;. one brother and two sisters, Blake Aland of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Gail Beckwith and Mrs. Noel D. (Dala) Stewart, both of Montpelier. Services will be conducted at 1 p. m,, Saturday in the Third-Fifth Ward chapel.
