June Crane - Class of 1944

June Crane was born June 23, 1926 in Bennington, Idaho, the daughter of Mahonri and Mable Merrill Crane. She attended grade school in Bennington and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1944. While in high school, she played the trombone and graduated from LDS Seminary. Following high school, she went to work for the Mountain Bell Telephone Co., where she worked in Montpelier, Pocatello and Boise until her retirement in1983. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and also served as a volunteer at the St. Alphonsus Hospital. Always an outdoor person, she loved to fish and hunt and took great pride in her yard and garden. She was a lover of animals, always having pets, including lambs and a deer. She had a cat and a dog which she called her "kids". (Most recently Tiger and Pixie). She died July 31, 1988 at a Boise rest home.

She is survived by one brother, Jack R. Crane, Bennington; two sisters, Julia C. Wright, Bennington; and Mary Lou Crane, Boise; and 147 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Merrill M.Crane and Lynn J. Crane. The family suggests contributions to the Bear Lake Foundation to refinish the old high school (middle school). Funeral services will be held Friday, at 1 p.m. in the Bennington Ward Chapel. She was buried in Bennington Cemetery.
