Walter Hunzeker - Class of 1928

A car train accident at a crossing in Montpelier claimed the life of Walter A Hunzeker on September 20, 1976.  Hunzeker, a prominent businessman and rancher was born September 6, 1906 in Montpelier to Frederick and Emeline Tueller Hunzeker.  He married Mildred Coleman November 12, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  He attended school in Montpelier and graduated from Montpelier High School.   He was a life-time resident of Montpelier.  He was a member of the LDS Church and had served a mission in the Northern States.  He served as Bishop of the Montpelier First Ward and had also served as Stake President of the Montpelier Stake.  He also served on the Stake Sunday School Board and worked in the MIA.  He served as a home teacher and at the time of his death was the High Priests Group Leader.  He had been affiliated with the Bear Lake Stockmen's Association as president and secretary for many years.  He was the owner and operator of the A & W Drive-In in Montpelier.  Surviving are his widow, seven children and 23 grandchildren.  Funeral services were held in the Montpelier Stake Center.  Interment was in the Montpoelier Cemetery.
