"Together Again For Eternity " On May 3, 1998, our wonderful mother, Rozena Ann Nelson Oaks, after completing 89 years of faithful service to her family and her Heavenly Father, was honorably released to the waiting arms of her loving husband and family in heaven.

Rozena was born June 4, 1908 in St. Charles, Bear Lake County, Idaho to Rasmus P. and Ann Greenwood Keetch Nelson. On September 8, 1930 she and Dad, Victor LeRoy Oaks, were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had the privilege of spending 54 years together before Roy passed away on June 27, 1984. 

During their married life they served a mission to the London Temple Visitors Center. They were also ordinance workers in the Logan, London and Ogden Temples, serving for over twelve years. Rozena was always a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. 

She served in many position's in the church throughout her life beginning at the age of 12, dedicating herself to temple work and genealogy. She loved her ancestors and enjoyed sharing her great knowledge and expertise with others. Rozena and Roy were the directors of the Genealogical Library in Ogden for three years when it first opened. After Roy passed away, she moved to Orem continuing on with genealogy work by doing extractions from old Spanish records for the church.

Rozena attended schools in Montpelier, Idaho. While in high school she held leadership positions and graduated with honors. At Brigham Young University she was president of Beaux Arts Social Unit and Gama Phi Omicron, a professional home economics organization, graduating with honors with a degree in home economics. She also completed additional studies at the University of Utah and at Utah State University. 

In the early 1930's, she started her career as a social worker. She helped start the first school lunch program in the nation in Utah, Juab and Wasatch Counties during the early part of the depression. The ladies would cook the food in the home economics room at the high school. The food was then trucked to elementary schools where they would serve the students at their desks in the classrooms. Surplus food was used which came from the government. 

In 1949 she began teaching in Weber County, continuing on for 20 years. During this time, she was a member of the Utah State Curriculum Committee which evaluated high schools in the state. 

Rozena had a great love for her faith. She lived the gospel righteously and totally. She was a wonderful example and a great mom. Rozena truly knew the meaning of unconditional love. Although she will be missed tremendously, we will have her blessed spirit with us always.

She leaves behind a life to be proud of. Those remaining to remember her love are her children: Hyrum (Dorothy) of Burbank, California, Harold (Ima Jean) of Provo, Utah, Annette (Herbert) Pierce of Oregon City, Oregon; Ferron (Mae) of Aurora, Colorado, Charlene (Don) Kimball of Cottonwood, California, Elaine of Midvale, Utah. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy, daughter, Janett, parents, Rasmus and Ann, brothers, R.K., Aaron, George, sister, Murcy, daughter-in-law, Virginia and two grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State, Orem, Utah. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. or Saturday from 9:45-10:45 prior to the services.
