Ferd White - Class of 1958

George Ferd White, 31, former Bear Lake County resident and pilot agent for the Justice Department, Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, stationed at Tucson, Arizona was killed March 25, 1973 when the Cessna 310 plane he was taking off from the Casa Grande Municipal Airport entered a turn and hit a utility pole with one of its wings and crashed.  He was born May 1, 1941.  He was the son of Mark I. White now of Lehi, Utah and late Erma Deane White, former residents of Wardboro.  His father was operator of Camp Stewart and Utah Power and Light Company.  Ferd graduated from Montpelier High School and Montpelier LDS Seminary with the class of 1958.  He continued his schooling at Utah State University in Logan graduating in 1962 in marketing.  He was commissioned second lieutenant in the US Air Force and took basic training at Del Rio, Texas and further training on F-4C phantom jets at Tucson, Arizona.  He went to Viet Nam and flew 30 missions and received Air Medal and Silver Star awards as well as the Distinguished Flying Cross.  He was advanced to the rank of major before leaving the US Air Force and taking employment with the Justice Department.  He was married and divorced.  Survivors include one daughter, Holly along with his father, brothers and sisters.  Services were held at the Wing Mortuary in Lehi, Utah followed by burial in the Lehi City Cemetery.
