Kathy Sorensen (Peterson) - Class of 1974

Kathy Ann Sorensen Peterson, 45, passed away Friday, May 4, 2001, at the Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot, Idaho surrounded by her family.

She was born April 30, 1956, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, to Darrell and Betty L. Graham Sorensen.

Kathy graduated from Bear Lake High School. She continued her education in Salt Lake City and graduated from the LDS Business College.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she had faithfully served in the Relief Society Presidency, Primary Presidency, Young Women's Presidency, as a Sunday School teacher, ward historian and was a member of the Scout Committee.

She worked as a legal secretary and as a secretary at the State Hospital South, sharing her organizational and secretarial talents with co-workers.

Kathy's principal interest was her husband and her four sons. She devoted her time and talents to her family. She was especially proud of her four sons, whom she referred to as "her trophies." Her hobbies included tole painting, crafts, volunteering in the community and her dog, "Waders."

She is survived by her husband, Scott Wade; four sons, Tyler, Trenton, Troy Peterson, all of Blackfoot; Elder Tad Peterson of the Chicago North Mission; her parents, Darrell and Betty Sorensen of Montpelier; her parents-in-law, Oren "Friday" and Arline Peterson of St. Charles; three sisters, Mary Lou (Darrell) Nate of Montpelier, Terri Lynn (Stanton) Jackson of Kanab, Utah; and Sandra Sorensen of Sandy, Utah.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2001, at the Blackfoot LDS Stake Center with Bishop Lynn Olsen conducting. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2001, at the Hawker Hill Sandberg Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles, Bear Lake, Idaho, at 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2001.
