Craig Noel Stewart, 60, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013. The son of Noel Dean Stewart and DaLa Ruth Aland Stewart, he was born February 4, 1953 in Montpelier, Idaho. He treasured the memories of his youth growing up in the beautiful Bear Lake Valley.
After graduating from Bear Lake High School he served an LDS mission to the Gulf States. He attended Ricks College where he met his sweetheart Carol Joy Lish. They were married on June 5, 1975 in the Logan, Utah Temple. Together they raised their family of 7 children. Craig was a devoted husband and father. He was dedicated to loving, teaching and providing for his family. He derived his greatest joy and satisfaction from the accomplishments and righteous choices of his posterity.
Craig was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was steadfast in his testimony and commitment to living the principles of the gospel. In addition to being a faithful home teacher he served in multiple Bishoprics, on the Stake High Council and in more recent years in the High Priest Group Leadership. He especially enjoyed his years working with his own three sons and many other outstanding young men in the Aaronic Priesthood and scouting programs.
During his 38 year career at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) Craig held many different positions including pipefitter, planner, multi-crafts foreman and supervisor, and maintenance manager. Craig was blessed by and humbly grateful for his association with many wonderful people throughout his longtime employment and church service.
Craig understood the value of work and was never idle. He was sought out and admired by family and friends alike for his abilities to engineer, repair, and problem solve. He was a calm, reasonable individual who taught by quiet example. Craig lived a life filled with faith and leaves his family a lasting legacy of integrity and unwavering testimony.
He is survived by his wife Carol and their children Amy Ruth (Ben) Davidson, Idaho Falls, Brian Craig (Kelly) Stewart, Salt Lake City, UT, Adam Noel (Briana) Stewart, Lehi, UT, Michelle Joy (Drew) Barton, Idaho Falls, Steven Boyd (Becca) Stewart, Idaho Falls, Julie Carol (Travis) Standley, Idaho Falls, Lisa Noelle Stewart, Idaho Falls, and siblings Judy (Pat) George, Georgetown, ID, Wendy (Kyle) Farr, Hurricane, UT, Scott (Helen) Stewart, Sugar City, ID, Susan Stewart, West Jordan, UT and 17 wonderful grandchildren. Craig was received into the welcoming arms of his loving parents who preceded him in death.
The Craig Stewart family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the many capable and compassionate care providers who have attended to Craig during his illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Crestwood LDS Chapel (1925 East 49th South) with Bishop James Barnes officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon) and on Friday from 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
