Paul Bartschi - Class of 1939

Dr. Paul Bartschi, 81, of Gridley, California died October 19, 2002 in Mesa, Arizona at the home of his daughter.  Born August 30, 1921 on the family ranch in Nounan he was a physician in Gridley for 42 years until his retirement in 1994.  He was a lifetime member of the LDS Church.  He graduated from Utah State University.  He served in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions during World War II as a jumpmaster.  Later as a captain he was Communcations Officer to General William C. Westmoreland.  At the end of the war he entered medical school and graduated from the University of Utah Medical School in 1951. After a brief residency at San Joaquin Hospital he moved to Gridley in 1952 to begin his medical practice.  He was honored in 1972 at New York City for the medical specialty of family practice.  He is survived by his wife, Irene, three sons, five daughters and 32 grandchildren.  Funeral services were held at the LDS Chapel in Gridley.
