Carlos Perkins - Class of 1930

Carlos Munk Perkins was fatally injured in an accidental gasoline explosion on December 5, 1941 at the Sanmauricio Mine in the Philippines where funeral services were held and burial conducted.  He sailed for Manila on August 16, 1940 arriving there in September.  He was born in Bennington July 27, 1911, the son of David H. and Romina Munk Perkins.  He started school in Bennington and attended high school in Montpelier graduating with the class of 1930.  In 1935 he graduated from the University of Idaho, Southern Branch in Pocatello and from the University in Moscow in the spring of 1937.  He had worked at mines in Kellogg, Idaho and in Montana and was also a salesman in California for one year.  He was an active member of the LDS Church and was loved by all who knew him.  He is survived by his parents along with four sisters and one brother.  Memorial funeral services were held in the Bennington Ward Chapel.
