Justin Phelps - Class of 1925

Justin W. Phelps, 47, well known Montpelier barber and civic worker died suddenly of a heart attack on Sunday, April, 1953.  He was stricken with the fatal attack in a car enroute from Border.  The son of the late Walter G. and Ella H. Phelps he was born in Montpelier June 9, 1905. On graduation from Montpelier High School he attended barber college at Denver and in the early '20's joined his father in business located in the Hotel Burgoyne. Known for his affability and untiring efforts in his own business as well as community service he held offices in and worked on numerous committees for the chamber of commerce and Rainbow Rod and Gun Club. He was a member of the LDS Church. He was married to Opal Oakey June 6, 1927 and to this union were born two surviving sons. Funeral services were held in the Montpelier Second Ward Chapel.
