Bennett Sneddon - Class of 1934

Bennett L. Sneddon, 50, Montpelier business man and civic leader died February, 1966 in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City where he had undergone major surgery.  A son of Thomas N. and Goldie Roberts Sneddon, he was born January 23, 1916 in Cokeville, Wyoming.  He attended the local schools graduating in 1934 from Montpelier High School.  He received his degree from the University of Utah in 1938 and was a team athletic manager  at both Montpelier High School and the University of Utah.  He belonged to the Utah chapter of Sigma Chi fraternity.  He and Virginia Dunn were married on January 2, 1937.  Active in many phases of community life, he was past president of Montpelier Chamber of Commerce and Montpelier Rotary Club.  For many years he was secretary-treasurer of the Montpelier Irrigation Company and was an energetic worker for the multipurpose dam scheduled for construction in Montpelier Creek Canyon.  At the time of his death he was a director of the Bear Lake Soil Conservation District.  A World War II veteran he served in the US Navy and was a member of the American Legion.  Before and after World War II he was associated with his father and brother in operating the Bear Lake Motor Company.  Surviving are his widow, and a daughter.  Funeral services will be held at the Montpelier LDS Third-Fifth Ward Chapel.  Burial was in the Montpelier Cemetery.
