Phillip Tunks - Class of 1947

Phillip Samuel Tunks, 48, prominent businessman in the Salt Lake City investment community, died April 15, 1977 at his home.  He was born March 19, 1929 in Montpelier to Sam V. and Inez Benson Tunks.  He married Barbara Bartschi October 14, 1950.  He was a resident of Salt Lake City for 26 years.  He was the former president of Utah Securities Dealer Association, securities analyst and was formerly employed at J. M. Hogle and Company as a trading room manager.  Later he was affiliated with E. L. Burton and Company and Dean Witter and Company as an account executive.  He was a partner of Dougan and Tunks, independent analyst and Wasatch Research Associates.  He studied journalism at Weber State College serving on the staff of the WSC and University of Utah newspapers.  He was a member of the ACLU and the LDS Church.  Survivors include his wife, sons and daughters.  Memorial services were conducted at Eastman's Evans and Early Mortuary.  Interment was in the Montpelier Cemetery.
