Stewart Barkdull - Class of 1919

Dr. Stewart Barkdull, 64, Montpelier native who practiced dentistry in Blackfoot for 40 years died early Sunday morning in his sleep at Blackfoot.  Son of a pioneer Montpelier family, Dr. Barkdull was born February 20, 1900 to Riley and Hattie Hoff Barkdull.  He was a graduate of Montpelier High School and Northwestern Dental School in Chicago.  Following his degree in dentistry in 1924 he took up practice at Blackfoot where he had since resided.  During World War II he served in the Army Air force as a dentist with the rank of major.  Dr. Barkdull belonged to the Blackfoot Elks, Rotary Club, American Legion and LDS Church.  He married Kathryn Scott in Independence, Kansas in 1944.  She died at Blackfoot June 30, 1960.  There were no children.  Surviving is a sister.  Services were held at the Sandberg Hill Funeral Chapel.
