Warren Wright - Class of 1943

Warren G. Wright, 63, died Wednesday, December 14 at his farm in Montpelier following a heart attack.  He was a lifelong resident of the Bear Lake Valley.  He was born June 13, 1925 in Bennington to Conover and Lenore Rich Wright.  He grew up in Bennington and was an avid sportsman.  He enjoyed horses, the outdoors and hunting.  He entered the military service following graduation from high school in 1943 and served in the US Army as a First Sergeant.  Most of his time was spent in the Philippines and New Guinea where he was an operator of a "duck".  He married Donna Bowen in 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple.  In 1967 he raised his deceased brother's four children.  He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in various positions including Elder's Quorum president, financial clerk and was a high priest at the time of his death.  He was employed at the First Security Bank in Montpelier starting as a bookkeeper in 1947 and later served as manager and vice president.  He retired after 38 years of service.  During his working years he served as president of the Montpelier Chamber of Commerce, president of the Rotary Club, chairman of the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital Board and the Red Cross.  He was Adjutant of the American Legion and served as secretary to the Mable Canyon Water Association and was on the advisory board of the Lower Valley Power and Light.  At the time of his death he was serving his second term as a Bear Lake County Commissioner.  He is survived by his wife, four sons, his brother's children along with 25 grandchildren.  Funeral services were held in the Bennington LDS Chapel.  Burial was in the Bennington Cemetery.
