Anona Hymas (Daggett) - Class of 1955

Anona Ann Hymas Daggett, 78, passed away on September 24, 2014 at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs.

Anona was born July 3, 1936 in Liberty, Bear Lake County, Idaho to Villa Venetta White and Earl Daniel Hymas the oldest of seven children, one sister, Genevieve Jenetta Hymas, and five brothers, Virgil Thomas Hymas, William Earl Hymas, Martin Doyle Hymas, Ray Lee Hymas and Roger Morris Hymas.

She married John Robert "Bobby" Daggett on April 27, 1955 in Montpelier, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple on April 20, 1983. Bobby passed away on January 11, 2007. Their married life was spent in Soda Springs, Idaho where Bobby was a gandy dancer for the railroad.

During her younger years, Anona was active in Primary and MIA receiving many awards as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Later in life, she was a devoted member of the Relief Society, spent many years doing research in the genealogical library, and served as a secretary of the Sunday School. An avid reader, she especially enjoyed clipping and collecting articles of interest on a wide variety of subjects including history and health issues. She read many LDS Church books. Friends who know her well found her to be very generous and an interesting conversationalist, she possessed a quick wit and sense of humor. Anona loved cats and was well know in her neighborhood for her large collection.


Anona was preceded in death by her husband Bobby, her parents, and three brothers, Virgil Thomas Hymas, William Earl Hymas, Ray Lee Hymas. She is survived by one sister Genevieve Jenetta Hymas, and two brothers, Martin Doyle Hymas and Roger Morris Hymas.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs with Bishop Larry Simmons conducting.

Family and friends with to express appreciation to members of the Soda Springs 2nd and 3rd Wards, as well as physicians and staffs of both Spring Creek and Caribou Memorial Living Center, for their care of Anona during the past few years.
